Gene Wilder continues to surprise with this wonderful book. Don't let the title mislead you. This is a poignant tale of a young man going to war and assuming a false identity to save himself from certain death. The only negative I could find with this touching story is that it simply does not last long enough...

I found myself reading this in Gene Wilder's own voice. When I did, the story came alive for me. I could see the expressions, the movement, the simple glory of the writing that moved effortlessly from page to page - scene to scene. It was a fitting ending. I truly found the book to be engaging and wonderful.
