Somewhat disappointing. It was a good story, but I kept waiting for something to happen, but it didn't.

When Carly Spencer's husband quits his job and buys a boat to sail to Hawaii, Carly takes her 15-year-old daughter to Northern California, where she grew up. Her mother still runs Chatsworth-by-the-Sea, a 150-year-old bed-and-breakfast with its own ghost legend. With a hostile mother, a daughter willing to blame her for everything and two men interested in her, her life becomes even more stressful

I must say that Susan Mallery is one of my favorite contemporary authors- but I was really disappointed in this book. The story sort of meanders along, and we're not really sure who the love interest is supposed to be. The secondary characters are somewhat annoying, and the plot, which revolves around a bed and breakfast inn featuring a ghost, is unbelievable bordering on ridiculous. I loved her Bakery sisters series, her Marcelli sisters series and the Buchanan family series- try one of those books instead, this one's a dud. Oh well, everyone's entitled to one!

An unlikely ghost, bit of romance and deception. Light-hearted fun

This is such a fun story...especially for newly divorced women whose teens are playing all the angles. Domineering mothers finding fault left & right. Men who think a divorcee should fall into their laps with gratitude & the women who outrank, outclass & outlove them all.

Satisfying read. Three generations come together to restore an old home (now a B&B) -- and find romance along the way.

A nice, quick read and good book.

Not your typical Susan Mallery story. It had some romance elements but it was not really a happily ever after romance. It really focused more on Carly moving on after her divorce from her husband and figuring out her place in the world.

It was a nice read, not as intriguing as her other books but I still enjoyed it.

Carly Spencer, former perfect wife, was changing her agenda...

Because Plan A -- be a stay-at-home mother and wife to a successful executive -- had come crashing down. And left her, at age thirty-nine and ten months, with little to no money, a surly fifteen-year-old daughter and a burning need to start again.

WHICH BRINGS US TO PLAN B ...

back home to Chatsworth-by-the-Sea, to her stately (or so she remembered) birthplace. Only, Carly and the palatial old home had one thing in common -- a need for a head-to-toe makeover, not to mention some TLC. So what's a woman to do?

Get to work, for starters. And as she restored her house, she was beginning to find herself ... a home ....
