OMG, I have waited for this day for sooooo long. My husband took our daughter to get her driver license today and she PASSED the test and is now officially a driver. Ok, so it was good news AND bad news! We got her the drivers manual on her 14th birthday. On her 15th birthday, we made her get it out from under her bed. On her 16th birthday, we started taking the written test. This spring we forced her to get another learners permit - she had no desire to driver! Immediately after passing her test today, he took her to the next window and had her car put in her name and then went across the street and got auto insurance in her name. Happy Dance! Happy Dance! When they got home, she dropped my husband off and we didn't see her for four hours. I have a feeling this is going to be the norm now.
Now, for the funniest part! My daughter is 19 years old and works full time at a very nice retirement home in our community. She has to be at work at 5:30 in the morning, so guess who gets to take her??? Yep, ME! I am the one that just (early) retired June 20th and has not had a moment's rest since. I used to get up at 7:00 in the morning to go to work. I retired and now I get up at 5:00 - what is wrong with this picture? Anyway, she goes into the DMV office and tells the lady she needs to take a drivers test. The lady asks (stupid question) "why do you think you have to take a drivers test?" My daughter, not the sharpest tack in the toolbox, says "So my mother won't have to get up and take me to work in the morning"!!!! I thought that was hysterical!
Well, watch out people 'cause she is now on the road!
