"A Silver Dish"
Another story with a theft at its core: this time of an overvalued silver dish. Encompassing this is the tempestuous relationship of father and son.

"Cousins"
Is this story, a Jewish (what else) lawyer is pestered by distant cousins to solve their dilemmas. One, a mobster associate who as been sentenced and wishes to gain favorable treatment from the law. The other is a sort of academic who wants to bilk the government out of some grant money.

"Zetland: By a Character Witness"
Such a remarkable story if only for its brevity. So much so that I have absolutely no recollection as to what it is about.

"What Kind of Day Did You Have?"
Middle-aged mom is being divorced while she chases after a geriatric intellectual. What kind of a dingbat flies from a wintry Chicago to Buffalo (of all places) for a tryst with an overbearing, pompous ass? A lecturer, no less! Oh, by the way, she also has a police lieutenant waiting in the wings. As if Chicago and Buffalo are not enough, they get stranded in Detroit; well, almost.

"Him With His Foot In His Mouth"
A classic. This guy definitely does not know when to keep his big mouth shut. Despite the overpowering philosophical erudition this is by far the most entertaining story, particularly as the targets of his forays deserve much more than they get.
