My Thoughts: I'll start off by saying I've heard this book compared to Twilight multiple times. Some people hate it, some people love it. I am a huge Twilight fan. Yes, I'm one of "those."
Well, what can I possibly say to sum up this book? I'm in love with it. Like seriously all the way in love with it. I finished it in a day. Once I started it, I could not stop. Eating became a chore because I just needed to have the book in my hand or else I would go insane. I'm still left breathless. The whole story, the words, the plot, the characters are beautiful. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Its just too bad I had the ARC, because now I have to buy the finished copy! Its definitely one I need to have sitting on my bookshelf. It must be bought! haha! I loved Grace, but most of all I loved Sam. I loved him as a wolf, I loved him as a human. I loved the way the chapters unfolded. Each chapter is told from each characters point of view, one will be Grace's and the next Sam's. But it does not jump around and it goes along as the story goes. We learn how they felt each other through each other. I usually do not like books that switch points of view, but this just made it more special. I really wanted to know what Sam was thinking and how he "felt." Amazing! It is a good thing its called Shiver, because it will literally make you Shiver. The whole book, I wanted to go out and play in those woods!! Now I am left wanting to read Linger, which isn't due out for a while. Darn me. LOL! I won't go into too many other details because you need to just read this book!!! I don't give too many books this kind of review, because most books I read once than I move onto something else. Its just my way. But this one,,,, lets just put it this way, if you haven't read it yet, go to amazon and buy it right now! If you like beautiful romance stories, this is for you!

I didn't really like this book at all. I thought that the initial premise held promise - trying to re-write _Twilight_ with werewolves... but the changes made to the traditional werewolf myth fell flat. There was a scene with dogs that was utterly stupid - and it was obvious that this book was not researched enough. And the ending was just completely lame. There are MUCH better werewolf stories out there.

This book has been quite a disappointment to me. I cannot find a reason for the hype it has caused, and I had an extremely difficult time keeping through with it 'til the end -- it was a page-turner, but only in the sense of wanting to hurry up and get to the end, not to the next page.
For one, the plot was awfully sub-par; it was like an offshoot of Twilight (that being said, I'd recommend this to any of those Twilight 'junkies'). The female, Grace, was very strange and one-dimensional, crying at everything, and fostering an intense love for an animal she didn't even know was a man. A pathetic make-up of a man, at that. You think a werewolf would be masculine, hard and tough, but this guy is extremely feminine and seemingly has no common sense whatsoever - I do not understand his point for being there, nor why he depends on Grace so much (they've known each other for, what, two days?), nor why he repeats himself so often and tends to act like a frilly, emotional wreck of a 12-year-old.
And for two, the writing style is very childish and youthful (as was the almost nausea-inducing "romance", if you can even call it that). It did not capture me in any way, and in some parts I just wanted to throw the book down and give up. The authour takes way to long to get into things, and when she gets into them they aren't even worth all the pages it took to get to them.
I suppose this story could've been decent if executed better, but it still feels way too Twilight-y to me (and not in a good way).
Yet... there was something in it that made me keep reading. Even though there were countless times I just had to shake my head and set the book down, I always picked it back up again. My guess is that I looked through the cheesy written romance and the hopeless romantic deep inside of me connected with the "love conquers all things" theme.
*Also, the blue type is killer on the eyes; hope the next book's not in green...

Ever since then she's watched for "her" wolf each winter, caught in a longing she can't quite explain. Then one fall a boy appears on her porch, injured, with those same yellow eyes. Grace knows he is her wolf.
Grace feels more connected to Sam than anyone else in her life, and Sam would do anything for her. But right from the beginning, a shadow looms over their time together. As the weather gets colder, it's harder and harder for Sam to stay human. And he's sure that this time, when he turns into a wolf, it will be for good.
SHIVER is a melancholy, romantic novel with equal parts tenderness and passion. Readers will find themselves swept up in Grace and Sam's unfolding relationship as they are finally able to talk and touch, and struggle to hold on to what little time they have together. The book is filled with gorgeous imagery that comes alive in your mind, and adds to the sense of fleeting beauty.
Some may find the story a little slow-moving: many of the scenes are simply Grace and Sam being together, and of the few subplots that increase the suspense, all but one are dropped with little or no resolution. But the book is well worth picking up just for the character study of a boy growing up torn between human and animal worlds, and the main characters' chemistry and frantic attempts to hold off Sam's change will keep appreciative readers glued to the page.
Recommended for paranormal fans who prefer thoughtfulness and simmering emotion to action and violence.

I had seen a lot of buzz around this book so I was really excited to read it. I liked it, it is a pretty darn good book. Looks like there are supposed to be two more books in the series "Linger" and "Forever".
Grace was attacked by wolves when she was a little girl. S and somewhat he remembers one wolf that drove off all the other wolves; she remembers the wolf with the yellow eyes. At almost 18 years old Grace still has a deep fascination with the wolves in the woods. In fact she sees the wolf with the yellow eyes quite often and she feels like she belongs with him. Sam is a normal kid during the summer, but when the temperature drops he becomes something different. Things get complicated when a kid is killed by the wolves, but then turns up later not at all dead.
There were a lot of good things about this story. I liked how each chapter was labeled both with the temperature and the character whose point of view it was. The idea of people becoming werewolves when the temperature lowers is intriguing, as is the idea that their time being able to convert to human only lasts so long. I also thought that the book was beautifully written, Sam especially talked in beautiful prose. The characters are very likable and easy to relate with.
The only thing that bothered me was the pace of the plot. The plot is painfully slow. There is a ton of time spent just recounting the details of Sam and Grace spending time together; and while these details are sweet, and somewhat touching, I think there were too many of them. That being said the pace picks up toward the end of the novel and the ending itself was great, if a bit rushed. If the last part of the book had taken place over maybe the last half of the novel instead of the last fifth, the pacing would have been perfect.
Overall, I liked the book. It was a pretty good read. I look forward to reading the next book in the series when it comes out.
