Facinating story of a young Chinese girl who was sold by her father to bandits, who delivered her to a woman who sold her again. Traveling to America in the worst of conditions, she was again sold at auction and was bought by an ancient Chinese business man. She had such determination to be a free woman that she was able to overcome the adversity that came her way. Excellent book.

I enjoyed this book very much. It is a biographical novel, based on Lalu Nathoy's real life. It is tough reading in places, due to injustices, but heartwarming as well. Pictures included in the book make the story so real.
I loved this book ! I have been reading about china and all they went through. this book really tells you about the heardships they went through and still servived.
