This is a strange story about a hero wrestler, his very chaste girlfriend, her unknown and very unchaste twin sister, underground religious cults, and plastic surgery experiments. I read this several years ago and don't remember character names, but the basic plot is that the wrestler's girlfriend is kidnapped by people that look like giant apes. The wrestler goes to find her and instead finds a world where the wrestling scripts he acts out are really the religious battles from weird cult mythology. And other strange things. I really liked it, although the story is a little dark. I don't know how it compares to the rest of Stephen Dobyns' work, as this is the only thing I've read by him.
I do recommend it, but be warned it is very weird!
