I generally really enjoy my prehistoric fiction, but this one was unusual. Most books seem to take on a theme of how socially advanced ancient societies were, but this has a different slant. Two cultures with very defined social stuctures see the world and how to live in it very differently. The book focuses on the culture more foreign to our life, and threads in a culture more akin to our ideals. Left an impression I still feel. I did enjoy it. Being taken to new places and ideas is a goal of reading, I believe.

Very accurate historically. The author is an anthropologist and she lived for years among primitive people. She has great insight into what prehistoric people might have experienced and how they may have interacted.

Of the two books, I liked Animal Wife best. You don't have to read them in any particular order, as each story stands alone quite nicely.
