Excellent book. Begins with JJ childhood, rise to charismatic church leader in Indianapolis, and rise a fall of The People's Temple. Several reviews claims this books tells of how this tragedy could happen. Sorry, but I still don't understand how someone can so blindly follow ONE man. Especially when they saw the fraud he committed. If anything, this book made me understand less of what happened. I feel so sorry for family members who lost in some instances their whole families in this mass murder/suicide tragedy. If you want to read more about Jonestown though this book is it. It is extremely detailed and I feel unbiased.

Thorough retelling of the life of Jim Jones and The Peoples Temple. This is the only book you'll need to get a comprehensive understanding of the tragedy at Jonestown. Very hard to read at times but also hard to put down!
