I have felt the pressure and actually went thru and posted numerous books that I had picked  up thither and yon thinking I would enjoy them but will never get around to.  It still didn't relieve the pressure but others now can enjoy them on their TBR pile.  I am trying to keep up with my authors I follow, and dang but I find someone who I read one book and want to follow the characters.  Jacquelyn Frank who I hadn't read was like that.  Luckily my sister had a pile of them so I am going back and reading the earlier ones.  I like her writing and her characters.  Also trying to read some e-books, I just can't get ahead.

Read an ebook - Boundary Crossed by Melissa Olson - pretty good - I got it free from Amazon Prime.  I put some of Ms. Olson's other books on my WL.

Finished Demon Ex Machina by Julie Kenner, so thus ends the Demon Hunting Soccer Mom until I get the next (last) book!  I am still enjoying the series, but, some of the tension is getting a little strained.

Also read Chicks Kick Butt anthology - I loved almost every one of these stories!!!!

I'm doing really bad the last few months on actually making myself read anything.  I think I got 5 books read in august and so far in september I've managed a miraculous 3!  I'm stuck right now on Sparrow Hill Road by Seanan McGuire and Night Owls by Lauren M. Roy.  I've only gotten through about half of each and can't seem to finish.  Sadly I already told someone I'd send them so I need to get them done.  I think I'm in an end of summer slump.

I did get Bound by Flames (Night Prince, Bk 3) by Jeaniene Frost done last week and since Vlad flies I'm taking a jump and putting it in 1 If By Air, 2 If By Sea, since thats the only place I still need books for.  So I've now got only 1 book left to finish the challenge and its in 1 if By Air, 2 If By Sea so maybe I'll find something by the end of the year!  Did anyone finish yet?

I am trying to read Death: Dorlana Vann, I will read it because it is the last ghost take I need.  It really has no structure and the characters are weak, you want to know what they are going thru but the concepts seem nebulous, hell is being recycled back to earth, but the MC is on her 200 try to get it right.  There is a male ghost and 1/2 thru don't even know his story.  Great cover and build up but is not delivering.  Also may give up on Trailer Park Fae by Lilith Saintcrow, not really catching me the turmoil between the light and dark fae, is really politics, and not something I really like.  The action has been spotty and the characters kind of flat.

I did just read 'To tame a highland Warrior' by Karen Marie Moning it was about Biserkers and really was a great story.  Her writing was tight and the characters were well defined.  I really enjoyed it.

Kinda sucks to hear that abou Trailer Park Fae by Lilith Saintcrow Susan!

I decided to give Sparrow Hill Road and Night Owls a break and picked up Deceptive by Kelley Armstrong last night.  Sadly I only got 40 pages in and I fell asleep.  Though to give the book a little credit I was sick, my nieces spread there stomach bug germes to me and i spent most of last night in extream agony!  Feeling a little better tonight...

No, No I'm not reading Deceptive by Kelley Armstrong though if she wrote it I probably would!  I'm actually reading Deceptions (Cainsville, Bk 3)
Author: Kelley Armstrong apparently my mind is in the gutter and not only can I not finish a book I can't remember titles any more either!  Its getting more interesting but its still slower than the last two, or it could just be me as I'm halfway through 3 books now!  Hopefully I'll finish one soon.

Did anyone else dislike Sparrow Hill Road?  I'm over half way done with it and I just don't see it being on of her's that I love.  It seems disjointed, and repetitive.  I'd have rather had a more linear version, than this one that hops all over the place and says the same crap over and over!

I think Sparrow Hill was written as episodes. It was online prior to being in print.

Thanks Emily that actually makes sense.  I finished it last night mostly by force, I just wanted to end it!  I didn't end up hating it but I didn't care for it too much, especially that ending!

I started Armageddon Rules today and I've made it almost halfway through in a couple hours, its cracking me up!  I don't think it was me stalling my reading I think I was just reading some not so great books!

I just read Katie MacAlister's Dragon Falls, and remember why I stopped reading her books.  I did finish and there were some humorous parts but the  characters were annoying, they had annoying habits and they kept repeating dialog.  I think I will skip reading any more of her dragon series. It ended unfinished, and she had done that to me in a couple of previous books which I also didn't like.  The cover was good...An OK read but there are better books to pick up.

Also reading another one of Mike Resnick's Detective series, these are OK and some what funny.  The mystery takes place in an Alternate Manhattan, where John Justin Mallory is a detective. The City is populated with every kind of mythical creature.  They are good but not great.

I like his Weird west series better.

This week I read

  1. The Beautiful Ashes [Broken Destiny] by Jeaniene Frost

I rather enjoyed the book, didn't mind that it was 'deep' and was somewhat predictable, I think the storyline's opportunity for development is there and I'll be interested to see where it goes - will it be predictable or will it surprise us.

Dang Susan I just got Dragon Falls but since I still have light dragons I stopped reading I don't know why!  I think it might have been that hot cover!

I absolutely loved Armageddon Rules.  My dog not so much, he got pissy and moved to the couch by the time I finished.  I think it was all the laughing and slapping my leg while I laughed!  It was so much better than the first book.

Amy I just checked out my review of Beautiful Ashes on goodread because I remember wondering where she was heading with it too.  I hit it in December and I gave it 4 stars, but I was really hard on it in my review.  It just didn't know what it wanted to be but it had so much potential!  I can't believe how many 1 star and 2 stars and DNF's it got.  I think mostly it wasn't up to snuff of the quality of her past books and it coming out as a pararomance in adult and not new adult really was a mistake.  I dislike the new steamier cover too, and the cover for the new book it seems misleading.  She better up the steam in the new one since they put those steamy covers on it!

I finished 'Death' by Dorlana Vann, was so confusing and boring that I nearly didn't finish.  Read a 'Tiger's Bride' by Eve langlais and read in one sitting, love her books this one was semi short but enjoyed.  Now reading Alien Mate by Eve Langlais and really enjoy this series that include Accidental Abduction, really fun series.

I'm reading Wish Bound by J C Nelson and without a doubt this is my new favorite series.  I absolutely adore those postal gnomes, they totally make this series.  I don't think I've liked side characters this much since I read the Hollows.  I like Al more than I like these gnomes but its close!

This week I read Dark Skye [Immortals After Dark] by Kresley Cole - still love this series!  I cannot ever figure out where it is going next in the over arc of the story!

Also read Dark Bites, the anthology by Sherrilyn  Kenyon - I love her series, and the short stories did not disappoint!

I finished Visions in Silver by Anne Bishop yesterday. Excellent book. She is a very good writer. Story was masterfully crafted, Plot building upon each chapter. This book is number 3 in the series you really get to know the characters and want to keep learning about them. I love the way they treat and protect Meg. Highly recommend this series.

I finished Fairest: The Lunar Chronicles: Levana's Story :: Marissa Meyer

It gave a lot back ground on Levana's life. Quite good.

This week I read

  1. Only the Good Die Young [Jensen Murphy] by Chris Marie Green

It is an interesting premise of a story, I like the rules of the universe regarding ghosts and their interaction with the real world, but, it's still a little rough in the reading, and a little predictable.  The main charactor is not too perfect, which is nice.

I finished the challenge last night with the conclusion of Kerrelyn Sparks Love at Stake series - Crouching Tiger, Forbidden Vampire. It was a great end to the series and the challenge.
