Tales from a South Bronx Boyhood. Sixteen year old Gil C. Alicea shines in these 115 short essays about life issues he confronts in New York's South Bronx-drugs, violence, gangs, police, and mispreceptions of the media. At the same time, he vividly illuminates the teenage concerns of sex, music, parents, school, and what clothes to wear. Alicea ("Air" to his friends) has a positive and hopeful message to share in these essays.
