The thing about the "Life of Fred" books is that they appeal to all sorts of learners. I got "Apples" for my kindy daughter who doesn't fancy math....she loves it! The story is fun and the math concepts are presented as part of the story line. Each chapter has a section at the end for practicing math skills. Be aware that there will be references to God, prayer, the Bible, etc...
