I love the fact that Clark writes about characters that you can feel sympathy for and care about. I feel her choice to use multiple personality disorder as the theme to his mystery is fascinating and added depth to the story line. The closer you came to the end of the story the faster the pages were turning.
Mary Higgins Clark is an exceptional writer who keeps you in suspense and on the edge of your seat in all of her books and this one does the same!
I started reading Mary Higgins Clark books with my grandmother, and from my 4th grade on, we were swapping Mary Higgins Clark books back and forth between one another. This one is probably my favorite, however. I re-read it from time to time (as with most of her books, this is a VERY fast read) when I am looking to read an exciting book, or feel like reading about Multiple Personality Disorder.
This mystery began were Laurie at a very early stage of life was abducted right in front of her own house. Little did she know her whole life would start to change. Bicycle and Opal were her abductors. Little Laurie developed many personalities inside of her in an effort to cope. Eventually, she's returned home at the age of 12. You can only imagine what the family went through after her return home. I warn you there is so much more to complete this story you just can't put this story down. It pulls you in more and more. A Great Thriller.
A good read. Different take on most of the author's other mysteries. Somewhat predictable though. Still hard to put the book down until the end.
I love this book, I always give my beaten up copy to my friends when they ask for a book. I love the focus on Laurie and her ordeal, as well as how her kidnappers are portrayed. I did not except the big revelation, but the last four or so pages were very typical Clark.
Vintage Mary Higgins Clark. A great book.
