New York Times Review:

THE BEETHOVEN CONSPIRACY by Thomas Hauser starts in New York when a young musician, a woman who plays the viola, is approached by a stranger. He will give her $10,000 to learn a piece and play it in Europe. The murder of three young musicians then takes place in Lincoln Center. A veteran New York detective lieutenant is in charge of the case. He has to learn a great deal about music - and specifically about Beethoven - to get to the truth. And for that he has to follow the young violist to Vienna.
