As a baseball fan I was eager to read about the longest game in the history of baseball. Barry did a decent job of describing the atmosphere of a cold minor league game but he was too often guilty of purple prose. It seems that Barry is in love with his own prose as his use of hyperbole often bordered on the ridiculous. I found the story interesting but the writing distracting and unpleasant.
