A well-written tale, though there isn't much of a mystery. The killer is identified at the onset.

I loved this book! As a mystery fan and a cat lover, this book had it all for me. Great characters who filled their roles to overflowing, especially Robin and Leif Ericson, the cat. Robin, an 11-year-old, must break into a house to steal a popular show cat in order to be part of a gang in his neighborhood, and when he does, he witnesses a murder. And the murderer witnesses Robin seeing it all, but he doesn't realize at first that the prized cat is now in Robin's possession, along with a ruby and diamond bracelet that was around the cat's neck as Robin flees. But in order to find his witness, this killer knows that he must find the cat, then he will have his boy Robin. A fast read that I read in a day, and would love to read again.

Eleven-year-old Robin wants to join a popular gang at school. They'll accept him, though only if he kidnaps the prize-winning cat of old Mrs. Nordling first. But when Robin sneaks into the Nordling's house, he gets more than just a schoolyard thrill. A brutal crime has been committed and Mr. Nordling knows someone besides the cat witnessed it and he will stop at nothing to learn who it was.
