Evelyn Brandt, wife of a Colorado senator, is shocked when she learns that her husband has been arrested for embezzlement. She quickly learns who her real friends are, including Trevor, her husband's former best friend, and that God has not forsaken her. I thought this was a good book. I liked seeing characters from the author's previous novel, Paper Hearts, make an appearance, though this book can be read as a stand alone novel.
Change of Heart is a contemporary romance, but it is much more than that. It deals with many current issues facing women today. I love the main characters, Evelyn and Trevor. They are well developed and seem like real people. I appreciated Evelyn's journey of self-discovery and Trevor's growth into a more complete individual. The secondary characters are interesting and quirky, so they add quite a bit to the overall story. We met many of them in the book, Paper Hearts, but it isn't necessary to read the preceding book. I do think reading the first book gives the reader a better visualization of the lovely, small town setting. If you enjoy a romance that has depth and contemporary issues, I think you will enjoy this book.
