Cheri
Poor Cheri! Raised amid the demi-mondaine of Paris, he has little choice but to become a laggard. Quickly he becomes the paramour of Lea, the still attractive cougar of the pride. He temporarily escapes by marrying the daughter of another member. But, does he? He soon vacillates between his wife and his cougar courtesan.

The Last of Cheri
Several years have passed. Cheri has emerged from WWI relatively unscathed and beribboned. His wife is preoccupied with her convalescent hospital. Still and idler, what is he to do? He becomes estranged (sort of). Still drawn towards the remnants of the pride, he is drawn back again and again to his former milieu. Is there any escape for him? Discarded by Lea, but still needing her, he discovers a final resolution.
