The Christmas Wedding is my first James Patterson book and I'm happy to say I enjoyed it. It's definitely a story to get you in the Christmas mood with family, snow, weddings and of course love! Although it's a full-length novel this reads like a novella. Each of Gaby's children are introduced and each have situations and struggles that they face that somehow get resolved right at Christmas so there's not much room for development. The romantic element is a little unbelievable--Gaby strings along three potential grooms and they don't seem to mind or question her, hence the three star review. I definitely kept wondering who the groom was going to be and by the end I was glad she chose who she did. However Patterson's ability to weave a story that's centered around true-to-life characters is, I'm sure, one of the reasons why he's a bestselling romance (and suspense!) author.

Be warned, there is strong language throughout but The Christmas Wedding is still a pleasant read just in time for the holidays!

I love books like this! The chapters are short which makes reading it such a pleasure. A fun concept that kind of reminds me of the book that Nicholas Sparks wrote - I think it was called "The Wedding". I loved that book!

Disappointing. Full of cliches. The main character and her Christmas mystery was the most annoying woman I've met in a book. I seriously doubt Patterson wrote any of this drivel.

I did not enjoy listening to this book. "Gabby" (even her kids call her this name)is getting married , but there is a secret. Who will she marry? Potential grooms abound and even her kids who each have their own drama do not know . Heck the groom doesn't know and won't know until the wedding day . I will sum up : cliched characters, unbelievable situations and boring people. The reading in the audio version is uneven as the speaker attempts to give every character a different voice. Just did not work for me.

Gaby Summerhills husband died three years ago and her four children have slowly drifted apart dealing with their own lifes drama. They have not been together for Christmas since their father died but Gaby is determined to change that. She announces she is getting married on Christmas Day and everyones presence is required. She is also being very sneaky letting them know the groom will be revealed that day.

Dollycass Thoughts

When you think of James Patterson and his co-writers the first thing that comes to mind are his suspense thriller novels. It is stories like The Christmas Wedding, Sundays at Tiffanys, and Suzannes Diary for Nicholas, where we see his softer side but these books do have twists or surprises too. The are a true testament to his versatility as an author.

I once read that Patterson has co-writers because his just has too many ideas to get all the stories written by himself. With the co-writers he is able to publish an outstanding number of novels each year for all ages and for all his series and still get out a stand alone as impressive as this one. I was drawn into this one just like I am into his suspense stories.

Christmas by itself gives the feeling of magic but this book adds its own touch of magic bringing this family after the death of their father and while they are all dealing with different forms of crisis in their own lives.

The premise of the grooms waiting until Gaby reached the altar didnt set with me well at first, but Patterson pulled it off, by showing how much these men all loved Gaby and wanted her to be happy. The proposal scenario set this up wonderfully. Plus we are talking about people in their fifties who have been close their whole lives here, their at different places in their lives that the younger set who are thinking of having kids and building their lives together.

I enjoyed this holiday story. It was a fun, easy, light, Christmas story to put you in the right mood for the holidays right around the corner.

A very fun book with a bit of romance and suspense. What made the book truly great was getting to know the entire family - the good and the bad, the happy and the sad. A lot happened in this little book, but it read like a much larger novel with a very satisfying finish.

This was actually the first book I've read by this author. I was expecting alittle more of a twist at the announcement of whom Gaby was going to marry. Glad I got this book from the library instead of using a credit even thou I would've gotten it back considering all the wishers for this book.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Of course I have read the other James Pattersons books that are different from his normal books. This one had you guessing from beginning until end. Good suspense & romance combined made it a winner!

This was a nice, quick read, but had too many characters and not enough depth to the story line.

I love anything by James Patterson so I was happy to find this on the available list. However, it's clear that this is not his story...I'm not sure what he had to do with it at all. It's the tale of a women who invites her family to her wedding but no one---not even her suitors---knows who she's going to marry. The author keeps this detail a secret until the very last second, hoping to maintain mystery and intrigue. All in all, it's a fun story but don't expect to be memorably moved. It is what it is!

This book would make a cute Christmas Hallmark/LMN movie.
