Another enjoyable mystery by Tasha Alexander, this one in old Venice. If you've been there, you'll recognize some of the places in the city and understand the social background. If not, you'll be longing for a gondola ride through the winding canals. Old feuds and romances carry the tales along, with two connected stories in alternating chapters. The historical love story made me cry, it was so sad - something that seldom happens to me with novels. I think this is one of the best in the Lady Emily series; a fascinating mystery that, while not exactly a cliffhanger, will keep your attention until the final revelation pages.
