My wife got me to read this book. I was surprised at how good it is. Told from the perspective of a lab rat. The writing is fast paced, the characters are great. The story itself is kind of sad, but it's well worth a read!

a chilling fable that joins such great political satires as Animal Farm and 1984, Doctor Rat, is an unforgettable indictment of man's inhumanity to man, and to all living things. With macabre humor and bitter irony, Kotzwinkle uses his fast talking rodent, Doctor Rat, as mankind's apologist in an animal experimentation laboratory grotesquely similar to a Nazi concentration camp. There he spins a frightening moral tale so harsh, so real, so teimely, it cannot be ignored.
