From the back cover, "Abortion, local evangelism, marital disenchantment, and the rifts of social class: Brundage takes on the fault lines of our era with a deft hand. The Doctor's Wife is an accomplished, page-turning novel."

It took me two days to finish this novel...and two weeks later, I can't get the characters out of my head. This book will grip your heart and mind, and it will haunt you. Not for the faint of heart.

Fascinating book about so many different controversies: religion, abortion, adultery and it goes on. But handles all of this gracefully and a good book that kept me reading until the end. Would highly recommend.

This book was a very slow read. I don't really care for books that start with the ENDING of a story. Kind of takes the fun out of the story. Not my cup of tea.

Interesting story about a stressed young family and the temptations and ambitions that threaten to ruin them. Very suspenseful dark tale.

Excellent writing, awful story. Characters that will stay in my mind but not in a good way. I had this book on my shelf for years; when I picked it up, it was hard to put down! It was like an accident that I couldn't look away from. Infidelity, child abuse, abortion, fractured families, prostitution - too much sadness for me. I read for relaxation! The fact that I felt compelled to read it to the end says a lot about the writing because it was not a relaxing experience. I honestly don't even know how to rate something like this. 2 stars because I didn't like it, but really deserves more stars because it's a good book -just one that I didn't like.

Very good book! I found it very hard to put down which is bad because I have two kids. So, I had to only read at night when the house was sleeping.

I enjoyed this book. The only book I have read by this author but it was nicely written and kept me on my toes. It has lust, suspense, fear, lots of in between...
