The striking cover of Fortunate Harbor by Davis Bunn caught my eye. I expected it to be great for summer reading - southern coastal setting, a bit of intrigue, second chance romance. Instead it was legal/corporate drama, hurricane damage, power struggles galore.
This was my first experience reading a book by this author, and it wasn't for me. With its choppy writing, odd/repetitive phrasing, and two-dimensional characters, I never engaged with the plot that felt completely different from the publisher's blurb. And the ending ... just ended ... with so many details unanswered. Unfortunately, I can't recommend Fortunate Harbor to fellow readers.
