These studies are addressed to the people of God, not just to ministers. Yet they will not be easy reading. For the most part I have given my own rendering of the texts of Scripture and have not sacrificed what I consider essential points of discussion in the interest of being popular or entertaining. The days are past when Christians can afford entertainment.
An effort has been made to apply biblical insights to the problems of the present day. An appendix has also been added. It is occasionally referred to in the footnotes, and contains suggestions for further study. Although the list of books could be extended indefinitely, only a few have been included in the bibliography for each facet of the study.
