I love the work of Ian McEwan, author of Atonement, Amsterdam and Saturday, among others. Be warned that Ian McEwan wrote the screenplay to The Good Son, but this book is written by Todd Strasser, "based on the screenplay." No thanks.

Sent to live at his relatives' home after the agonzing death of his mother, Mark Dolan enjoys the warmth of being part of a family again. But soon Mark realizes something is wrong in the Evans family, something about his cousin. Macaulay Culkin is Henry, the bright, charming cousin Mark just can't trust....

Suddenly Mark is sure his cousin is more than a prankster--he is a terrible, unknown danger to the loving family around him. But who will believe the word of a lonely, grief-stricken boy? When his charges against Henry backfire, Mark refuses to give up. With his mother's dying words--"Trust in yourself"--echoing in his mind, Mark enters a dangerous duel with Henry--to stop him from committing murder!
