The product of over 30 years of research, this genealogy presents in exhaustive detail the story of this Lutheran fa... more »mily, from near the Enns River in Austria through its migration following the Thirty Years War (1618-1648) to Nordheim, Württemberg, Germany; and then from Nordheim on to Pennsylvania in 1748. All Heffelbowers alive today, of whatever spelling, are descendants of Philipp Höffelbauer (c1630-c1693) through his great grandsons Philipp Jacob Höffelbauer and Georg Balthasar Höffelbauer who came from Nordheim to Pennsylvania in 1748. Most descendants have remained staunchly Lutheran except for Church of the Brethren affiliation in one line which began in 1760. The book includes an extensive addendum on the Le family of Warwick Township, Lancaster Co., PA as well as the Ley family in Warwick Twp which later moved to the Monocacy area of Maryland. There are also capsule summaries on the following Nordheim families: Beck, Cappler, Fleckler, Franck, Gerlach, Hösser, Pfeil, Pleninger, Riecker, Rudolff, and Ströhlin. You will find this genealogy a valuable one; whether as a Höffelbauer descendant, as a pattern of how a prize- winning professional genealogist has compiled and published one line of his own ancestry, or as a detailed vignette of America's early settlement and westward expansion.« less
