Although the attention to detail can become sort of tedious and made my eyes glaze over a few times, I never considered giving up on this. French is thorough to say the least in his investigation and questioning of people involved. Not much action, and maybe a little long at 300+ pages, but it was an okay read. It's a "Police Procedural" in spades.

Written in 1933, this classic British mystery kept me in the dark as to the murderer. Everyone I suspected turns up dead as a serial killer keeps killing. Inspector French is called in to solve a missing persons case as several people vanish without leaving a trace. Did Dr Earle run away with a nurse? He and his wife were unhappy in their marriage, but everyone says neither the doctor nor the nurse would do such a thing. Then a guest in the doctor's home vanishes in the same mysterious way as the doctor did. It is a very puzzling case for the Inspector until he figures out just where all the bodies are buried. A very good read.
