I was up late last night finishing this book. It was like reading Goosebumps with my kids. Every chapter (which most were only a few pages long), left me hanging to turn the page and see what was going to happen next. Not my usual genre, I had to read it for Book Club, I'd classify it as "Creepy". I stopped trying to figure anything out, because every time tried, it definitely was not what I expected. I told my husband I would make a terrible detective! And I am going to make him read this one!

What fun! This is the 5th of McFadden's books that I have read and she has not disappointed me yet. This kept me turning pages (as all her books have). I love being inside the heads of her characters! This is a tale of suspense and surprises where everything may not be as it seems.

Not my genre, as we frequently hear. But oh, I couldn't stop reading until finished. Short, snappy chapters, twists and turns I never saw coming. I really loved this book and have already ordered the sequel.

At first I really liked the story, but it totally changes and becomes very creepy, and somewhat unrealistic.

PLUSES: A definite page turner. You can't help but get engrossed in the plot from the beginning. The characters are definitely unique, and you can almost hear the way certain characters are speaking.

MINUSES: A bit implausible at times. I sometimes felt certain situations could have been avoided if different actions had been taken. And then there was, what I would call, a huge "coincidence" , that was a bit too much. 3 1/2 stars.

Part 1 of this book is good, but Parts 2 and 3 are where the revelations will knock your socks off! LOVED the ending!! I read this in just a day and a half!!

I didn't realize until after reading a Housemaid book that it was a series. Of course, this most recent read was the first in the series; reading it does prove, you don't have to always read books in order to enjoy the read. As with the others, I read The Housemaid out loud to my husband, so we could both read the book. The story is a psychological thriller, and it did that to me; I kept worrying about what was happening to the characters and wondering who the real âbad guy' was. My husband is very âblack and white' and he felt quite a bit was overdone and unbelievable. If you like reading something that is not comforting, rather terrifying, and includes twists and turns you don't expect you may want to pick this one up.

Millie is a convict who is living in her car. She needs a job and applies to a housemaid advertisement and is hired as a nanny and housemaid by Andrew and Nina Winchester. They also have a daughter named Cecelia who is a living nightmare. Nina is a bit psycho and makes up lies about Millie but Millie is bound to keep her job. I won't tell you anything more about this book. You will have to read it to find out more. This is a dark, creepy and twisted psychological thriller. It is unputdownable once you start reading it. The plot is unbelievable and keeps you reading until the surprise ending. Frieda McFadden knows how to tell a good story and this will not be the only book I will read by her. If you like books about secrets then you will love this book.

Caught me off guard. At first seemed typical and then the switch, and the foreshadowing of the mother. Good read.
