A Leftists Understanding of Conservatism. That should be the name of the book.
THIS IS NOT A BOOK THAT WILL HELP YOU WIN A FIGHT WITH A LIBERAL. In fact, it would actually help you defeat a conservative. This book was written by a actual liberal and with the exception of the ridiculous quotes made by the left it isn't a good book for a conservative looking to actually debate a liberal.
I too got this book as a joke and when I began reading it didn't take me long (10-20 pages) to come to the realization that this was indeed written by a liberal. The attacks on conservatives in here are much more personal, negative and better thought out than the attacks on liberalism. This author had no business writing this book because he was unable to remove his ideology long enough to give it a decent chance of being creative or witty. His "attacks" on liberals are hilariously weak and nowhere near the mark when it comes to things that should be discussed when looking to have a verbal war with liberal. I found Kurtzman used clichés when attacking liberals but when he attacked conservatives you could tell it was much more natural for him. I imagine his "How To Win A Fight With A Conservative" is rather good and much more legitimate.
If you are a Conservative, DO NOT GET THIS BOOK!!!!
This book was actually enlightening to see how the left perceives the right and how they perceive themselves.
This book merely dredges up all the worst slander in politics, stereotyping every argument, point of view and individual into an image so extreme that it resmbles no one (and thus avoid being offensive). The companion volume does the EXACT SAME in reverse. They are so formulaic that if you read both you will literally be reading the same book just with certain words flipped or replaced with the other extreme

This was given to me as a joke, but the section on logical fallacies should be required reading for everyone. I know this book has a conservative twin; we'd probably all be a little wiser if we were forced to read the book with the bias we do not share!
