Earlier this week, my trainer used a circular band fastened around my ankles. I had to semi-squat and side step 20 steps in each direction. My inner thighs were hurting the next day! Also, the dreaded squats (especially with your toes pointed out) |

I teach toning classes...there are a lot of good things to do for inner thighs! You can do leg lifts...lay on your side with your top leg bent (foot behind your thigh) lift your lower leg (small motions) Your foot should be flexed heal coming up first -- not toe. I do 8 singles - 8 double counts (up for 2 down for 2) 8 singles - pulses for 16 (hold leg up and do tiny motions up) repeat. Squats and lunges are awesome for all over leg toning. Make sure you are bending back and not bending past your toes. I like to do squats with legs together for 8 - then lunge/squat out to the side for 8 - lunge to other side for 8 - then 4 - 4, then 2 - 2, back to 4 - 4, then 8 - 8. USE MUSIC!! It helps to have a beat to go along with and it keeps you motivated!! Deep squats are great, too. Legs out wide - toes pointed out. Go as low as you can for 8, pulse for 8. Raise right heel and squat for 8, pulse for 8. Left heel 8, pulse 8. Regular squat for 8, then hold squat down for 8. Sink lower and hold for 8 more. Sink lower again for 8 and hold if you can. Then, when holding low pulse knees back squeezing buns and thighs as you go. Abs with an exercise ball are good, too. Place the ball between your upper thighs. Crunch up and pulse the ball between your thighs. It's a killer for both, but very good!! Plus...cardio!! Running will tone your legs a lot if you are able to run. Good luck!! Have fun!! |

Thanks Shannon. I can run, but I have to be careful cuz I have a fractured wrist right now and I'm trying not to jar(sp?) it too much. |

I would suggest avoiding any isolation movements that will most likely 1) be ineffective 2) make your strength disproportionate to the rest of your body 3) increase your chances of injury Stick with Squats - they're the best exercise for your legs and also the best overall exercise for your body. If you're physically unable to do them, then just use dumbbells. |

Thanks for the tips Dennis! I'm able to do most anything, but I have a little bit of a thunder thigh thing going, which I really don't like :) |
