This is an outstanding book on the Underground railroad. Blonde, Blue eyed Josephine is a beautiful, very intelligent young woman .She is the very rich widow of Sea Captain Peter Van de Mere, Thought she does not look it she is an octoroon. Which makes her take more chances on the Underground railroad to save Many people. Josephine is engaged to Sam Pownell, but now he is dead. When Josephine finds out that he is alive.Will she risk being followed, killed and robbed to go from New York to the very dangerous New Orleans. This is a great Historical , romantic mystery and daring of a woman who risks everything to take upon herself any job in the underground Railroad. Will Josephine survive to find happiness with Sam Pownell? This is a Christian story.
