This book is the biography of Dr. John M. Perkins, evangelist, civil rights activist and community development leader from Mississippi. Dr. Perkins started community development organizations in his home state as well as California. Born in 1930, he experienced violence, discrimination and segregation, and learned to love those who hated him. Very inspiring story of a man who is still very active today through his organization, the John M. Perkins Foundation for Reconciliation and Development. A song inspired by this biography entitled "The Sound" by the band Switchfoot can be viewed on UTube.
