The main character, Sherry Moore, is blind but has the ability to see the last 18 seconds of a dead person's thoughts by touching their hands. The story begins with a terrible storm on Mount McKinley. A man is found frozen under a sign he was trying to make. Because a higher up's daughter disappeared, Sherry is called in to see if the dead guy knows where the girl is located. What she sees is a castle in a jungle where a woman is being raped and tortured. Driven by this image, she tries to find the castle and find out what is happening to the woman.
