Could have been used as a textbook. No real issues as to outdated science, other than he admits that we didn't know how the moon formed. Also the space ship shown landing on the moon (3 years after the book was written) looks rather sci-fi-ish. He gives short, clear, objective sentences, unlike a lot of science books of today.
