Wishlisting NYRBC books seems like an exercise in futility, but, against hope, I do it anyway. Maybe there are other PBSers like myself who like the look and feel of them and appreciate their selection...things I would never have found elsewhere and things I didn't know I would like. Wonder if there are enough other fans to loosely form an NYRBC swapping group, each buying (through PBS, of course) NYRBC editions and swapping with others in the group. It's hard to say goodbye to them once you have them, but biting the bullet and swapping would sidestep the long wishlist wait (years, sometimes) as well as decimate the cost for new copies. Am I just dreaming ? Last Edited on: 3/24/13 6:39 PM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

IMO, the classics forum would be your best bet! But you never know - we have a wide range of tastes in this forum!! |

Thanks, Jeanne..it's nice, finally , to have a reply. I started out with the Classics forum but got many less hits in three times the time than this busier forum, so I'm glad I tried it. I expect to wait, either way. Is there a third posibility that you know of ? Thanks again. |

Have you tried the Foreign Language/World Lit or the History forums? Those are the only other two where I'm thinking you might get some takers..... Maybe you would get more interest if you didn't have it limited to New York Review Book Classics, although you probably have your own reasons for doing so. I'm thinking that if you just left it open to Classics you might come across some of the books you're looking for (???) Last Edited on: 3/26/13 1:28 PM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

Hi Jeanne...It's kind of a misnomer, that 'Classics' in their name. They don't , for example, look for sales by bringing out the 17th edition of 'Great Expectations' with a racy cover. They're more about finding and publishing great stuff that may have been out of print for awhile, or otherwise neglected. I think they appeal to curious readers who learn to take it on faith that if they bring something out, it's probably worth checking out. You can see NYBR's list (213?) by typing 'NYRB Classics' in the PBS search box. And you can find out alot more by typing the same into your search engine ( I use Google) and clicking 'Browse' once you get to their website. Am I trying to convert you ? You betcha ! Let me know what you think; your suggestions have been valuable to me. Dwaine |

I think your best bet would be the Hidden Gems forum.
