I've not read any Nicholas Sparks, though I am familiar with the film 'A Walk to Remember'. My 13 year old grandaughter wants me to order some Nicholas Sparks for her, specifically 'The Rescue' and 'True Believer'. Are these appropriate for a young person (contain profanity or sex)? Since I've not read them, I'm not in a position to make a judgement.

It has been awhile since I have read those books by Sparks.  I can't remember if there is profanity/sex in those.  But, he does have a more recently written one called The Last Song and the main character is a teenage girl.  That one would be appropriate.

You might want to consider another author very similar to Sparks - his name is Richard Paul Evans.  I have read most of his books and they are very good.  Start with some of his older books and I think she (and you) would enjoy them.

I have read Richard Paul Evans before-I should introduce his books to her.

Thanks, Wendy!

All his books are good and his latest series is great.  I read "The Walk" and "Miles to Go" and the next one "Road to Grace" is coming out next week.  I am gettingit for my mom for Mother's Day.
