I couldn't put this book down. The personalities of Christ, the Blessed Mother and Saint Joseph radiated from the text. I felt I was there: sitting at the loom with Mary, eating a communal meal with Christ and his cousins, and walking alongside the Holy Family during this time of their lives. And even though I knew how the big things were going to turn out, it was the immersion in the small details of their lives that held me captivated. A great, great read. Did NOT want it to end.

I was really looking forward to reading this book since I was a fan of this writer before she gave her life to Christ. I'm a Christian now myself. I can still appreciate her attention to detail and her descriptive writing style, but it was a very slow read. The section in the back offers notes from the author that I enjoyed more than the book itself.

Nobody writes like Anne Rice. Sometimes, not even Anne!
