This is the first of Jones' around-the-world trilogy, covering San Diego to London via the Caribbean region. I liked the book more than I thought; there's a lot on the people and places he encountered, rather than just (technical) nautical details. The story has its ups and downs, but the author never considers giving up when faced with adverse circumstances.
