I have a question for any USPS employees here.

For no specific reason whatsoever, I'm curious what I should do if, say, I put a package into a blue mail box and it gets stuck half-way down so that the mailbox doesn't open. Is there form to fill out online, or a number to call or something?

no need, the chute gets checked every day when the mail is taken out. there is a time posted on the box and it is checked at or later than that time.

It would be a courtesy if you could call your local post office and let them know.  In the case of bad weather, all the mail inside could get soaked if that drawer gets stuck 1/2 open...

I, too, have a question about mail being stuck in a mailbox.  If a package gets stuck and will not fall into the actual mailbox itself because the dimensions are too wide, and it jams the door to the mailbox so it will not open, and I end up getting the mailbox door back open to retrieve the package, is it ok for me to do that?  Like is it ok for me to retrieve my package from the mailbox since it wont fit and just mail it at the counter instead?

yeah, Bella, it's fine to pull your package back out if it won't go into the mailbox.

um, if you have a package so big it jams the mailbox, it sounds like it may be bigger than they want you to mail from the box anyway.  the sticker on our box says if it's over 13 oz or something, you are supposed to take it inside anyway.  although i don't know if that applies to pre-paid boxes...

the 13 oz rule only applies if you pay the postage with stamps

yeah, i think if it's stamps they don't know who you are and they want to be able to look at you.  if you printed it, they supposedly have something they can trace.
