Take two fabrics and a few simple shapes and turn them into an extraordinary quilt. In Lacy Star, the solid shapes lose their definition, seams disappear and motifs dissolve into one another. This happens because both the diamond and the surrounding squares and triangles all have a black background. In another example -- Recipe 14, Mirrored Triangles -- three sets of three fabrics produce three completely unique designs. It is hard to believe that these three are the same recipe. They look so different! This is Patchwork Sassaman Style! Jane calls each quilt pattern a recipe because it is a guideline on how to create the quilt but is open for you to add and delete as you like.
