I always thought of Joan Crawford as the "Mommie Dearest" person because that's all I ever saw & heard.

This book convinced me she was so much more than the allegations and reading this surprised me - it shows her in a completely different light - that's good. But, while the author acknowledges that Joan exhibited some strange (and downright mean) behavior - he barely touches on it. Hmmm....

Also, the author assumes the reader has seen all Crawford's films and ruins the ending of EVERY one. I have seen very few of these and almost feel I don't need to now as they've been ruined. :-(

Immediately after completing the book I went to Youtube to view various interview & appearance clips and I was thrown off yet again. The Joan that you get from this book is still NOT the Joan you see speaking. Conclusion - read this book for a side of Joan but don't stop there.
