Yes - that is quilling not quilting. I've just started this paper craft and wondered if anyone else around here has tried it. It is sometimes called twirling. It's an old art, but for some reason I only recently became aware of it. |

I had a friend that did this years ago. I had a snowman Christmas ornament that she made, and hung it on my tree faithfully every year until it finally fell apart. I thought it was fascinating. But then, I liked Spirograph too, when I was a kid (winks). |

I had a short class on quilling when I was a Girl Scout leader. I thought it was a lot of fun, but my mom had trouble with it. I have copies from a craft book of all kinds of things you can make. I just had trouble finding anything to use it for. |

I am mainly making cards Chris. I bet I'd love those copies. I am not very imaginative on my own. |

I found the pages. There are lots of animals, bug, birds and pictures of card ideas. One page shows fruits and veggies, and alphabets, but not how to make them. I guess it wouldn't be too hard to figure out. I've got pig, rooster, lamb, cow, monkey, frog, chameleon, black widow, grasshopper, walking beetle, owl, flamingo, peacock, penguin, dachshund, siamese cat, lucky black cat, poodle. |

Sounds like pages from the Klutz book. It has some really cute things to make in it. There aren't too many quilling books out there. |

That may have been exactly where they came from. I just remember that it was a book we were selling at the school book fair. I see you're a night owl too. |

My daughters just started doing this this week. They love it! I can't believe the little creations they are making. They are using the Klutz book. They are hoping to making Valentine cards using this art on the front. |

If anyone has a lot of time on their hands, I found this project that would probably be beautiful when done and great for Easter. http://www.elizabethscreations.com/flowerbasket.pdf It has directions for the flowers, basket and butterfly. |

Ohhh that is beautiful Chris. Perfect for Easter. Jan, I've been looking at some directions for quilled jewelry. Did you find they held up well over time? |

I just started quilling about a month ago. I have purchased lots of paper and a fringer from EBay. I also bought a scrapbook table from Overstock.com. It's really great. I have spent hours surfing the net and have collected lots of project ideas and tips. This is a great hobby. My sister owns a framing /art gallery. I hope to get good enough to give her some consignments. I would love to get some quilling books from paperbackswap but so far none have been offered. Amazon.com has some but I just don't want to pay for them if I can swap instead. Happy quilling y'all and don't forget to take some time to read!!

Thanks for the links Janice. I'm fairly new to quilling too and am loving it. I was surprized at how much information there was on the net about it. I've spent the morning playing with Quilling sites. I have a few books and love them. |

I took a quilling class last summer at a scrapbook store. Unfortunately haven't had much time to practice. I also have the Klutz book, it is helpful! Thanks for all the sites. |
