There is more here than meets the eye. Ravenor is the student of Gregor Eisenhorn, and his style reflects his mentor's in many ways. He perhaps goes a bit further and makes some dumber choices, but he gets things done in the end. This is a more thoughtful, less action-oriented version of Eisenhorn the person. The book, though, is full of action, as are most 40k stories. The team that Ravenor put together (some of them old familiar friends from Eisenhorn) is top-notch, and it's interesting to see how they work together to solve problems and help each other survive impossible odds.

Highly recommended Dan Abnett fiction!
