I liked the premise, even though it's been done a million times, but wow this book is slow. The first half of the book is just our protagonist agonizing over her choice. There's no mystery for the reader - anyone can figure it out the second time it's mentioned. Cate, though, is oblivious. The plot spends too much time going over the same scenario again and again, including the dog's potty habits. (I did like the dog) And no payoff once they figure it out, just a setup for future books.
I see these were originally Kindle books, and there's a lot of them. Must be something there but I fail to see it.
