How could two people interested in the same hotel disagree so violently, Cara wondered. She had looked forward to working there; now the job was a misery.

"You don't understand any human feelings, do you?" she asked Mark contemptuously. "You'd even marry a woman you didn't love just to perpetuate your snobbish traditions."

Well, somehow she must get through the next few weeks -- knowing that the man she loved was interested only in the hotel!
