Baby Doe Taylor in her later years would sometimes done miner's attire and work the Matchless "with men she inveigled to work on shares." She and H.A.W. Tabor had been married with the Senator's friends in attendance, including President Arthur.
The author, a journalist, actually met Mrs. Tabor in 1927 when accompanying her mining engineer father. This book is based on her research starting in 1937.
