Even though my own religious background is quite different from Mahoney's, I found I could relate with not only her skepticism, but also with her desire to believe in something.
I've travelled around both Ireland and parts Southeast Asia, in the last eight years. In every place that I have visited, I've found myself most affected by the sacred spaces I've been to. Which is why my interest was originally piqued by this book.
I found it a refreshing read, as Mahoney does not seem to speak about the people she meets with a shiny layer of gloss, and she speaks about them both honestly, and with an unremoved compassion, which I find refreshing!
I may come back and reread this one.
