Someday
Author: Alison McGhee, Peter H. Reynolds (Illustrator)
A mother reflects on the all the milestones, from walking in a deep wood to holding someone else's hand, that her child will achieve during life. A deceptively simple, powerful ode to the potential of love and the potential in life, Someday is the book you'll want to share with someone else today.

Definitely for the mommies out there, this book is a sentimental journey through a child's life. Not as corny or creepy as "Love You Forever," this mother wishes things for her daughter as she grows, leaves the house, and gets older under her mother's watchful eye. I checked it out of the library for my 2 1/2 -year-old daughter and while she enjoyed being read to, I definitely got more out of reading it than she did hearing it. I ended up crying like a baby throughout as I thought of my own daughter growing up and leaving and becoming the woman I hope she will be.

I ended up buying copies for all the baby showers of the friends I knew were having girls. A really sweet gift at any stage of a girl's (or mom's!) life.

This book, while marketed as a children's book, seems more suited for adults who have children. It is nicely written, with a cute, sentimental story line that I enjoyed, but it did not hold my children's interest.
