Well I have to jump in on this.

When I was 18 I ordered a aliagater from Florida.  We kept" Gatey" in a baby bath tub in the kitchen.  The women who helped us didn't like him and I guess he didn't like her.  He would stand up on his Back legs and hiss loudly at her every time she got near.  She "accedently "left him outsde one day when she mopprd the foor. It was a very cold winter. Poor Gatey didn"t make it.

I"ve always had dogs and cats. Our black cat even had a babysitter.  We took him by my mother-in-laws everyday as we went to work and picked him up at night. I even had two Shetland ponys in my back yard in town.for awhile.

Then my dh and I had a series of  pets.  Ducks, Rabbits, a very busy parakeet I had to lock in the cage when I  wrote out our bills, she would steal my pin and drop my envelopes  on the floor. Then a Dancing Poodle, a kitten who was always in trouble, 2 backyard cats, 2 front yard cats and one insde cat.  In the woodpile we had a lizard that lived a long time and ground turtle .

Ahhhh. The fun started with four adorable ferrets who were a joy to watch and play with and love. One prefered peoples bill folds and would steal them  their purses.

Now I am a widow and have two dogs that keep me in line.  A border collie and a yorkie that let me know when they think I've been on here to long.

I am sorry for the misspelled words, I never could spell

Well I've had turtles, dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, fish etc.  I suppose the strangest pet I've had was our blue and gold macaw (strange in behavior).  He loved tuna casserole and would go nuts if you didn't give him a bite of it.  He also loved Coke and could spot a 2-liter bottle of it from across the room.  He'd go up to it and throw it on the floor, then roll it around attempting to open it. (We didn't give him Coke on a regular basis, it's bad for birds!)  He also had a tendency to fall in love with inanimate objects....he used to go into the bathroom and talk to a green towel we kept on the floor. He'd say "Hello...hello" over and and over, and growl at it. Very funny!

We don't have him anymore, but I still miss him.  He was the only pet I had that I could actually carry on a conversation with.

I had a hedgehog in grad school.  I called her Bucky (for a bucky ball, ha ha).  She was cute and interesting to look at but really not a very good pet.  She'd often get nervous and ball up and poke me.  When she was calm and I could hold her she would pee and poop on my hands.  I loved her, but I don't think I would get another hedgehog.

Out of our full "collection" of critters, the less normal ones would be the 5 ferrets, 2 chinchillas, 1 rat, 2 mice, 1 degu, 2 leopard geckos, and 1 ball python. And yes, we have more, "typical" pets as well: 3 cats, 3 birds, 4 gerbils, and a hamster.  My old kitty, Lucy, would eat corn off the cob.

I love my Beardies!  Brom, my Bearded Dragon, is so fun to watch when he chases crickets!  He doesn't eat mice, though, I don't approve of mammalian prey.

We have two buns, rabbits, that live in our house and act just like cats. They jump on the couch for some pettings, they throw tantrums if their food bowls are empty and they definatly have days where the whole world is against them so they are going to be grumps! I would not trade my fur butts for anything!

Nowadays it's just a dog and rats. I had salamanders before, and a four eyed frog. They're called that because of the eye shaped camoflage on their backs. When they get tense the 'eyes' kinda pop out on their back, like something big just woke up.

We have a menagerie: 6 Sugar Gliders, a Red Eared Slider (turtle), a rabbit, 8 dogs (1 Alsatian and 6 Jack Russell/Rat Terrier crosses and 1 JRT), 16 indoor cats (all fixed)  and 28 horses (mostly Arabians and ponies).

In the past we've had Parakeets, English Budgies, fish, snakes, frogs, crayfish and goats.

We're trying to rehome 5 of our dogs as I've become severely allergic, but I'm really picky about who they go to so it's taking time.  I used to do Jack Russel Rescue so we've had a lot of dogs come through our home.  I've rehomed about 15 over the past 8 years after any rehab they needed.  The dogs we have left are ones we bred or rescues.  All the ones I'm trying to rehome are good to go as I rehomed the rescue dogs first with the exception of one who has a life time home with us as he's not placeable (doesn't trust anybody else and will bite).

We have several foals due this year, so more horses soon.

Right now we lease 80 acres about 15 miles from home.  We're hoping to eventually buy property so we can have the horses actually with us instead of having to drive over every day.  Once we get our own place, I'd like to get some milk cows, chickens and goats.  It's very frustrating as we own 11 acres in NY, a house in PA and lease land in PA.  We can't afford to buy a new place until we sell the two properties we own, but can't sell one of them until we buy a new place....so it's a catch 22.  Someday....
