I love Tad Williams' book Tailchaser's Song. As I was looking around, I noticed his series Otherland. Is it a good series? Does anyone on this forum have a copy so that I could order it directly from their shelf? Please PM me.

Hubby says Otherland was okay, different from the author's other series and it didn't make it to his keeper shelf. His favorite Tad Williams series is Memory, Sorrow and Thorn (four books: The Dragonbone Chair, Stone of Farewell and To Green Angel Tower parts I (aka Seige) and II (aka Storm)). |

I have the Otherland series, but you'll have to wait! It's about third on my current list. I read the tetrology of Memory, Sorrow and Thorn, my first exposure to Williams. I think his characters were well drawn. The story is a bit of a variation on a famlliar theme with some interesting twists, especially at the end. It was an interesting series to read. The books at times felt like they were moving incredibly slowly -- almost like they were a day to day recounting of the journey the characters were on! I was amazed that the final climactic confronation took about 100 pages to get out and over and the denoument took about 40! I couldn't believe that......yet at the same time, I enjoyed it - he kept my interest as I wondered what was going to happen. I've never quite experienced anything like that. I'm looking forward to the Otherland series I'll probably post the Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn books shortly. |

I loved Williams' Green Angel Tower series and Memory, Sorrow and Thorn. I read the first book in the Otherland series. I didn't like it at all. Too much computer geekiness and way over my head. LOL I'm sure that it's a great series just not to my taste. |

I loved Tailchaser's Song, read it when I was 15 or so. I have a old beat up copy that I lent to my 15 year old daughter (who is totally loving it). Since then, Williams has been one of my favorite authors. I've read his Memory Sorrow & Thorn series several times. And I read War of the Flowers as well and loved it. I have yet to read Overland series although it's on my TBR. |

I really like Tad Williams too. I think *War of the Flowers*, The Shadowmarch books (two out of three are out now), and the Memory, Sorrow, Thorn trilogy are more similar to *Tailchaser's Song*. The Otherland books have a more modern setting with more computer/technology stuff. The other works are more classic fantasy (elves and swords and sorcery). If you liked the cat aspect of *Tailchaser's Song* you might like Gayle Greeno's Ghatti books. |

I didn't much care for the Ghatti books. The main character irritated me a great deal, and then her kids did after that. But that was just me. I know other people loved them. |
